ATV routes and trails provide riders with a great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the "North County". Riding your ATV on Town roads that have been approved as ATV routes is definitely a privilege, not a right.
Remember, opening routes and trails for your recreational use requires a considerable amount of effort and expense. Please respect all signs, speed limits and public property while riding your ATV. Speeding, loud noise, power-turns, road damage, illegal off-road operation and property damage will not be tolerated. This is the quickest way to get a route CLOSED.
The speed limit on all routes is 15 MPH. However, when riding an ATV within 150 feet of a home or dwelling and within 100 feet of a person you must reduce your speed to 10 MPH. Many routes (town roads) have homes near them.
Four Townships in Two Counties - The connecting route from the Wild Rivers Trail to the Birchwood area runs along the Barron / Washburn County line. It involves the use of town roads controlled by four townships. That means only one township has to close their portion to kill the entire route between the Wild Rivers Trail and Birchwood area.
We need your help - If you see a rider disobeying the rules, damaging roadways, speeding, creating excess noise or dust near residents, etc. - report them to the Sheriff's department ASAP. Obtaining the ATV registration number is obviously the best but hard to obtain. However, numerous citations have been issued with simply a clear description of the ATV and rider. Don't let a few ruin it for the rest, do your part.
